Carers need help too

According to Carers Australia, in 2015 there were 2.8 million unpaid carers in Australia, 12 per cent of the population.  The chances are you personally are a carer, need a carer or know a carer.

The burden of caring for another person can be a heavy one.

Judy Acott and Jane Miller have two things in common.  They each care for a partner with cancer, and they both attend the 'Supporting Someone With Cancer' group at the ONJ Centre.

"The very first time I walked into the Wellness Centre I felt safe, secure and that I had a soft place to land," says Judy.  "It felt like arms were opening up to give me a big hug as I entered."

"I love meeting so many people who are experiencing the same things I am," says Jane. "It makes me feel less alone and that I am not the only one feeling this way."

Both Judy and Jane feel supported and less alone when they attend the group. Funded by Tour de Cure, the Carer's group is part of the larger Wellness & Supportive Care programs at the ONJ Centre.  Reliant totally on community support, these vital programs support patients and their families to thrive in body, mind and spirit.

Your donation will make a difference to patients and carers, just like Judy and Jane.
