More about Dr Moritz Eissmann

The chance of discoveries to build knowledge, which can be employed to improve cancer therapy, is what excites and motivates me to perform cancer research.

During my university studies in Berlin and Busan and especially through my Master of Science thesis, I developed a strong interest in cancer research. This led me to undertake my PhD studies in Frankfurt (Germany) focusing on the discovery of novel anti-apoptotic molecules and their potential anti-tumoural properties.

In 2012 I joined the Cancer and Inflammation laboratory of professor Matthias Ernst as a Postdoc to work on the understanding of the formation, progression and therapy of gastro-intestinal cancers. Current projects in the laboratory aim to identify new gastric cancer-driving mutations, decipher the role of innate immune cells in the progression of gastric cancer and to test combinational-targeted therapies for gastric cancer.
