Our translational research approach means that every day you'll be able to work alongside clinicians, collaborating in the laboratory and at the bedside, to develop breakthrough therapies that will help patients feel better, sooner. We have seven research programs currently running and are on the search for more brilliant scientists to join the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute. Our researchers focus on a broad spectrum of cancer types, and cancer mechanisms.

State-of-the-art facilities

All of the research activities at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute are enhanced and supported by outstanding platform technologies, facilities and technical expertise within 5,500 sqm of exceptional laboratories. Our facilities include the ACRF Centre for Translational Cancer Therapeutics and Imaging (including PET MRI and SPECT CT imaging), VECTRA multi-spectral imaging platform and a Mammalian Protein Expression Laboratory. We are also co-located with the Victorian BioBank, providing our scientists constant access to patient tissue samples.

We are leaders in the development and advancement of immunotherapies, targeted therapies and personalised medicine. Institute scientists are lead investigators for over 70 clinical trials currently in progress within the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre.

Our achievements

La Trobe School of Cancer Medicine

We are proudly affiliated with La Trobe University, and together we have established the La Trobe School of Cancer Medicine. We undertake collaborative research, joint training of medical researchers and translate research into clinical practice. Every year we offer students from around the world the opportunity to join our research programs and make a difference in patients lives.
