The ONJ Wellness Walk and Research Run raises more than $1.1 million to support those with cancer

Five thousand enthusiastic walkers and runners helped the ONJ Wellness Walk and Research Run become the biggest ever and raised more than $1.1 million to support people with cancer.

Joined by many friends of the four-legged variety, supporters created a vibrant community, showing those who are touched by cancer that they are never alone.

Recently diagnosed with cancer, event ambassador Lyn Campbell was deeply grateful for the show of support.

"It was amazing to see the huge sea of green and to know that all those people were here to show their support for people like me.  It meant so much," Lyn says.

In addition to the 10km run and 5km walk/run, the event village offered a variety of entertainment and activities including an early free yoga session, roving entertainers, on-course entertainers, stage performances and a post-walk concert featuring James Reyne and the Chantoozies.

Olivia Newton-John was delighted and thankful for the incredible show of commitment to helping those who needed support.

"I am so excited to be here in beautiful Melbourne with my family and see so many people out here walking together to win over cancer," she says.

The funds raised will help support people with cancer as they go through one of the most vulnerable times of their lives, giving them access to cancer research breakthroughs and world-leading wellness and supportive care programs.
