More about Dr Daryl Lim Joon

Daryl is a senior radiation oncologist at the ONJ Centre. Daryl initially trained in radiation oncology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Daryl completed his research fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas as a project investigator involved in the investigation of androgen deprivation therapy and radiotherapy of prostate cancer. He has sub-speciality interests that include genito-urinary, gastro-intestinal cancers and sarcomas. He also has an interest in hi-tech precision radiotherapy including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).

Daryl was the principle radiation oncologist at Australia's first two IMRT sites, and thus, was the treating radiation oncologists for the first Australian IMRT treatments. Daryl has also been involved in the initial SABR treatments at the ONJ Centre. He has academic appointments associated with ONJ Centre and as a teacher/lecturer with European Society of Radiation Oncology notably with the Tumour Volume Determination - From Imaging to Margins Course. One of Daryl's major roles at ONJ Centre has been the development of the radiotherapy technical research program that resulted in his involvement with over forty publications, nearly sixty published abstracts and over 150 national and international presentations. Daryl has also participated in the supervision of both radiation therapists and radiation oncology trainees' projects, presentations, publications and higher degrees.
