More about Dr Hongdo Do

I am interested in identifying the underlying causes of DNA damage in formalin-fixed tissues and the solutions to better work with damaged DNA. I am also interested in studying constitutional methylation as a predisposing factor to cancer and in developing novel assays for better detection of cancer biomarkers.

My research interests are detecting genetic and epigenetic biomarkers to be used for the treatment of cancer. I have built expertise in detection of actionable mutations and DNA methylation as biomarkers in formalin-fixed tissues using various cutting-edge methodologies.

In 2003, I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree, Medical Genetics and Pharmacology. Following this, I continued my studies and in 2011 received my PhD in Molecular Genetics through Melbourne University. In 2012, I received the Postdoctoral Cancer Research Fellowship from the Cancer Council of Victoria.
