Cancer Clinical Trials

The Austin Health Cancer Clinical Trials Centre (CCTC) coordinates therapeutic intervention clinical trials in most cancer types across Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology streams.

Clinical trials play a pivotal role in advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes. Cancer clinical trials inform evidence-based treatments enhancing the quality of patient care.

About the CCTC

  • We are one of Australia’s largest cancer clinical trials departments with over 60 dedicated and highly experienced staff working alongside 20 Principal Investigators to provide direct patient care and ensure the highest quality management of clinical trials.
  • Many of our Principal Investigators are national and/or international leads in their specialty cancer field.
  • We have, on average, over 80 trials open and recruiting at any time.
  • We manage over 250 clinical trials concurrently ranging from start-up activities to archiving.
  • We have clinical trial management expertise ranging from Phase 1 First-in-Human trials to Phase 3 trials. The Cancer Council website has more information about the different types of clinical trials.
  • We have valued partnerships with over 100 different pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organisations, biotech companies, and specialised research collaborative groups.

Austin Health CCTC is located within the Olivia-Newton John (ONJ) Cancer Centre in Heidelberg.
